What I Mean When I Say “Supernatural”
A clear, grounded explanation of what I mean by “supernatural,” rooted in Scripture, sanity, and honesty—without sensationalism or fear.
Before we go any further in this blog, I want to pause and clarify something important.
You will see me use the word supernatural from time to time, and because that word comes with a lot of baggage, I want you to know exactly what I mean—and what I don’t mean.
People hear “supernatural” and imagine everything from Hollywood horror to New Age mysticism to strange experiences someone uses to build a platform. That’s not what’s happening here, and it’s not what this blog is about.
So let me put it plainly.
When I say supernatural, I literally mean above the natural—nothing more, nothing less.
The Bible Is Supernatural, Whether We Say the Word or Not
I won’t quote Scripture here, but I will say this: If we removed every supernatural moment from the Bible, we wouldn’t have much Bible left.
God speaks.
Angels appear.
Dreams guide people.
The Holy Spirit leads, comforts, warns, and corrects.
There are spiritual battles the naked eye can’t see.
There is an unseen world Scripture acknowledges openly.
So when I say “supernatural,” I’m not talking about anything new, strange, or fringe. I’m talking about what the Bible has always described.
What “Supernatural” Does Not Mean on This Blog
This is a good moment to lay down guardrails:
· It does not mean I’m trying to be sensational.
· It does not mean occult, mystical, or New Age practices.
· It does not mean elevating experiences over Scripture.
· It does not mean claiming secret knowledge or special authority.
· It does not mean exaggerating or dramatizing for effect.
· It does not mean everything unusual in life is spiritual.
· It does not mean I’m building doctrine out of my experiences.
I want to avoid four reactions in readers: fear, dismissal, suspicion, and the assumption that anything here is occult-adjacent.
None of that belongs here.
My aim is simply: tell the truth about what actually happened, and keep Scripture as the anchor.
What “Supernatural” Does Mean Here
When I use the word, I mean:
· the ways God works beyond natural explanation
· the moments when the Holy Spirit brings clarity, warning, or comfort
· the subtle (and sometimes not subtle) presence of spiritual opposition
· dreams or insights that prove meaningful later
· unusual timing that points to God’s involvement
· experiences in the natural world that are too orchestrated to ignore
Everything I share here is: real, unembellished, honest, and biblically filtered.
These are simply the events of my life viewed through the lens of God’s presence.
Why I Still Use the Word at All
I hesitated for years, because “supernatural” can be misunderstood so easily.
But there really isn’t another word that fits the category.
I’ve lived through moments that were clearly above the natural.
They happened in daylight, in ordinary settings, with witnesses, with timing and orchestration far beyond coincidence. Later, God used those same events to reveal a truth during prayer that I couldn’t have seen before.
I won’t go into that full story here—it belongs to another post—but I mention it only to say this: I use the word supernatural because honesty requires it.
Leaving it out would force me to distort the truth or ignore parts of my life God used to teach me.
Why This Matters Before We Move Forward
I want you to walk into future posts with the right expectations.
This blog will include stories about protection, discernment, dreams, spiritual interference, spiritual relief, and moments of God’s intervention. But they will always be handled with:
humility
clarity
sanity
reverence
honesty
and alignment with Scripture
I will never try to impress you with the unusual parts.
The emphasis belongs on God, not the experience.
Nothing here is meant to frighten you or push you into suspicion or doubt.
If anything unsettles you, bring it to God directly. He is not the author of fear, and He’ll meet you with clarity.
A Quiet Invitation as We Continue
My goal isn’t to make anything sound spectacular.
My goal is to acknowledge the full reality that Scripture already says is true:
We live in a spiritual world, and God is active in it.
What you’ll find in this blog is not a collection of sensational tales, but the simple, unadorned truth about the ways God has shown up in my life—sometimes gently, sometimes unexpectedly, and always with purpose.
Thank you for being here as we step into this next layer of foundation together.
